Svend Andersen
Art & Culture - Jumping Hours 40th Anniversary In Platinum
In 1884, Sandford Flemming invented the 24 time zones used for telling time on Earth. In 1930, Louis Cottier, a watchmaker from Geneva, developed a complication for pocket watches to display multiple time zones, which was later introduced on a wristwatch in 1950.
Mr. Andersen, while working at Patek Philippe in the 70s, serviced watches with this complication. In 1990, Andersen Genève presented its first worldtime watch, called the "Communication," commemorating Mr. Cottier's invention. Several editions followed, including the "Christophorus Columbus," "Mundus," and "1884." In 2015, the "Tempus Terrae" was introduced, commemorating Mr. Cottier's first worldtime wristwatch with two crowns.
The worldtime Andersen Genève X Asprey is a fusion of Andersen Genève's design and Asprey's heritage, featuring details such as triangle lugs, a BlueGold dial, hand guilloché pattern, and A-shaped hands. The watch is a 39mm worldtimer in 5N red gold with a highly decorated automatic movement and a limited edition of 24 timepieces.
Asprey, a luxury goods brand with over two centuries of craftsmanship expertise, has a history with timepieces dating back to the 19th century. The collaboration between Andersen Genève and Asprey continues the legacy of excellence, innovation, craftsmanship, and rarity in the world of watches.
